Cottage Information and Pricing

Chardonnay Cottage is set in the courtyard of the château amid large private gardens. Originally the lodgings of vineyard labourers, it is spacious and airy, with views over the surrounding fields of vines.

The two-storey cottage has three bedrooms to accommodate up to six, with an additional two guests on the mezzanine if required for eight. The interior has retained much of the house’s unique character, such as exposed stone walls and wooden beams.

Entering the cottage, there is a fully equipped kitchen with all modern features. In the dining area, eight can sit at a wooden dining table, while the large living room has two comfortable armchairs and a three seater sofa, as well as a TV/DVD/CD player. There is also British satellite TV for your use.  Internet access is available in a private room close by for guests use. There is also an internet cafe in St. Gengoux-le-National which is approximately a 10 minutes drive away (6kms).

The first of the three bedrooms is also on the ground floor, and has a double bed, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. A shower room and toilet are next to the bedroom.

Upstairs are the other two bedrooms, one of which has a double bed while the second has a pair of single beds. Each of these bedrooms also has a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. There is another shower room with a toilet and sink on this floor. A mezzanine area has a sofa bed which can sleep an extra two guests if necessary, as well as a second TV and VCR. The mezzanine is an ideal play area for children, or just for relaxing. Guests can enjoy the large private gardens of the Château, and dine outside in the courtyard as there is a teak dining set in front of the cottage for guests of Chardonnay. Secure off-road and garage parking is available.

The cottage has partial central heating and a wood burning stove.

    Le Crémant

Situated in the courtyard of the Château, Le Crémant is a lovely old barn converted to a delightful two, double bed roomed gite. Unlike Chardonnay Cottage and Les Vignes, Le Crémant has no stairs to the bedrooms, and has been subtley renovated with consideration for people limited to a wheelchair, paying attention to ramped access and wide areas of movement in all rooms and doorways.

There is a large, light living room, accessed through the original barn-doors now a large French window style door. The room is airy and bright with exposed stone walls, exposed original oak beams, a terracotta tiled floor, and a lovely view of the courtyard through the patio doors. There is a six seating dining table, two three seating sofa’s, and English language satellite TV/DVD player. The kitchen is wide and airy with plenty of work-surfaces and fitted with modern amenities such as dishwasher, washing machine and floor-level fridge. The cooker consists of a low-level oven and electric hob. There is also a microwave, toaster and kettle, coffee machine, iron.

The bathroom is wide enough for wheelchair access and has a walk-in shower (wide enough again for wheelchair access if needed), and there are two hand-basins one fitted at a lower height suitable for the wheelchair bound or children.

The bedrooms are finished in antique pine style furniture and include double beds, chest of drawers and wardrobes. Both are large with plenty of room for wheelchair access beside the beds if needed.

In the courtyard, in front of Le Crémant, there is a dining area with teak table and seating for six (or more if needed) with a large parasol, and use of a barbeque. Guests of Le Crémant also have full use of the parc (garden) which along with the Château  is considered a “national park” albeit private, there are areas for picnics and a small play area consisting of slide and swings for Children. There is secure parking in the courtyard and garage parking if required.

The name “Crémant” refers to the locally made white sparkling wine from Bourgogne (Burgundy), and Château de Saint Vallerin over-looks some of the vines that contribute to its production. Le Crémant is ideally suited for two couples or families of 4 or 5 with the use of a cot if required. An additional benefit is that the design took into consideration people with mobility limitations, so families who have a mobility challenged member, and therefore need easy wheelchair access, and fittings sympathetic to either someone who’s unable to tackle steps, or perhaps older and frail and prefers to use a wheelchair.   Likewise, families with young children may prefer accommodation on one level and which opens up directly onto the outdoor courtyard.
 The cottage is centrally heated.
